It's big and it's terrible!
It's usually Lassie who drops by to alert you that there's no actual column here, but, since it's kind of sort of "Giant Monsters Week" here at TOT, our good friend Godzilla gets to do the honors or lack thereof. As for why there's no actual column today, here's the short form:
I'm swamped with family and work stuff. The happy part of the former is that my daughter Kelly has softball and volleyball games almost every day this week. The less-happy part is that I have to decide how to address a problem with a person who is not a member of my family but who is causing grief for members of my family with her psychotic and even criminal behavior. Having watched a similar situation cause misery for years, I'm not remotely inclined to hold off addressing this current problem.
The work stuff is all happy. I'm putting together the first in a series of books that will collect my writings, including some comics and including some comics that have never been published or never published in their entirety. I'm also gearing up to work on a second unrelated book as soon as the contracts are signed. All in addition to my columns and other projects in development. I'll be writing more on these in upcoming columns.
In the meantime, just so your trip here today isn't entirely wasted, here's another batch of...
KAIJU IN THE COMICS!
Mark Tatulli's Lio from April 13, 2007:
The Quigmans by Buddy Hickerson from June 4, 2007 was sent to me by TOT reader Tom Duffy:
Tom also sent me John Deering's Strange Brew from July 12, 2007:
One more for the road. It's Mother Goose and Grimm by Mike Peters from July 7, 2007:
Thanks for spending a part of your day with me. I'll be back tomorrow with more stuff.

THE "TONY" SCALE
ZERO: Burn your money before buying any comic receiving this rating. It doesn't *necessarily* mean there's absolutely nothing of value here - though it *could* - but whatever value it might possess shrinks into insignificance before its overall awfulness.
ONE: Buy something else. Maybe I found something which wasn't completely dreadful in the item, but not enough for me to recommend it when there are better comics available. I only want what's best for you, my children.
TWO: Basic judgment call. I found some value, but not enough to recommend it. My review should give you enough info to decide if you want to take a chance on it. Are you feeling lucky today, punk? Well, are you?
THREE: This denotes something I find perfectly respectable. There are better books out there, but I wouldn't regret buying this item. Based on my review, you should be able to determine if it's of interest to you. Let the Force guide you.
FOUR: I recommend anything earning this rating. Unless you don't like the genre, subject matter, or past work of the creators, I believe you'll enjoy this item. Isn't it uncanny how I can look right into your soul that way?
FIVE: Anything getting this rating is among the best comicdom has to offer. You should buy/read this, even if the genre/subject matter doesn't appeal to you. It's for your own good. Me, I live for comics and books this good...but not in a pathetic "Comic-Book Guy" sort of way.
