Mid-Ohio-Con 25 Years

It's not too soon to make your plans for this year's MID-OHIO-CON, my favorite comic-book convention. The dates are November 26 and 27. The setting is the Hilton Columbus at Easton Town Center. The fun, as always, will be huge!

Con daddy Roger Price is putting together another great guest list. Media stars include Margot Kidder and Marc McClure from the Superman movies. Comics guests include Peter David, Tom DeFalco, Steve Englehart, Marshall Rogers, and many more. You get the most up-to-date guest info by going to:

www.midohiocon.com

The convention will also mark the start of the totally insane 2006 TONY ISABELLA "DID YOU MISS ME?" TOUR. It makes no sense for me to attend a bunch of conventions next year. The renovation and repairs at Casa Isabella have sucked darn near every dime from our family resources. I'm not exactly making a bundle of money from my writing. In fact, the only real good reasons for my going to cons next year are:

1. I miss you.

2. Some of you miss me.

3. My health has been pretty good, so traveling is once again on the table.

Counting this year's MID-OHIO-CON and next year's event, I'd like to attend 8-12 conventions. Besides the two Columbus events, my schedule presently consists of:

May 19-20, 2006:

EAST COAST BLACK AGE OF COMICS CONVENTION
Philadelphia, PA

June 30-July 2, 2006:

HEROES CONVENTION
Charlotte, North Carolina

What other conventions I add to the tour depends on a variety of factors. I would certainly like to hear from any con organizers willing to foot all or some of my expenses. I would also like to get suggestions from the loyal legions of TOT readers as to shows they would like me to attend.

Expenses permitting, there are two shows I would love to add to my schedule. The first is G-FEST [July 7-9, 2006], a Godzilla event held in Chicago. The other is COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL in San Diego [July 20-23].

Sainted Wife Barb says we can find the money for me to go to both shows, but I'm not sure I want to take such a big bite out of the family resources. Let's mark those conventions as "tentative" for now and see if any good fortune comes my way.

Just to recap: I'd love to hear from convention organizers who would like to bring me to their events. I'd love to hear from my readers on shows they would like to see me attend.

Additionally, I'd love to hear from publishers who could give me good reasons to attend this or that convention. Especially in the form of paying assignments.

One more thing.

New Orleans is one of my all-time favorite cities. I've been there twice. I expect to return there many times before my ticket gets punched for my final ride.

When I do return, I'll make myself available for signings at any New Orleans comic shops that will have me. Until then, please know your city and its people are in my thoughts and in my prayers. God speed your recovery.

I'll be back tomorrow with more stuff.

THE "TONY" SCALE

Zero Tonys
ZERO: Burn your money before buying any comic receiving this rating. It doesn't *necessarily* mean there's absolutely nothing of value here - though it *could* - but whatever value it might possess shrinks into insignificance before its overall awfulness.

Tony
ONE: Buy something else. Maybe I found something which wasn't completely dreadful in the item, but not enough for me to recommend it when there are better comics available. I only want what's best for you, my children.

TonyTony
TWO: Basic judgment call. I found some value, but not enough to recommend it. My review should give you enough info to decide if you want to take a chance on it. Are you feeling lucky today, punk? Well, are you?

TonyTonyTony
THREE: This denotes something I find perfectly respectable. There are better books out there, but I wouldn't regret buying this item. Based on my review, you should be able to determine if it's of interest to you. Let the Force guide you.

TonyTonyTonyTony
FOUR: I recommend anything earning this rating. Unless you don't like the genre, subject matter, or past work of the creators, I believe you'll enjoy this item. Isn't it uncanny how I can look right into your soul that way?

TonyTonyTonyTonyTony
FIVE: Anything getting this rating is among the best comicdom has to offer. You should buy/read this, even if the genre/subject matter doesn't appeal to you. It's for your own good. Me, I live for comics and books this good...but not in a pathetic "Comic-Book Guy" sort of way.
